After a major chain's unexpected shutdown this month, New Yorkers in numerous counties have one fewer pizza option.
Pizza Hut has closed at least seven sites in Herkimer, Fulton, and Montgomery counties in recent weeks. The company told that it was closing many eateries, but it didn't disclose why.
"We've made the difficult decision, along with certain franchisees, to shutter a limited number restaurant locations in the U.S.," the statement stated.
Though a few U.S. Pizza Hut restaurants will close, most are open and eager to serve you. Customers will be diverted to nearby stores." New York Pizza Hut closed seven sites in:
Cobleskill: 109 Barnerville Road Johnstown: Route 30A, Johnstown Mall Herkimer: 306 W Albany Street
Monticello: 352 E Broadway Amsterdam: 4822 Route 30 Gloversville: 195 2nd Avenue Ballston Spa: 2103 Doubleday Avenue

Pizza Hut does not mention these locations. Google searches revealed that Amsterdam, Cobleskill, Ballston Spa, and Monticello are "permanently closed." Amsterdam's Pizza Hut's door had a "Closed 4 Good" sign.
Pizza Hut has over 150 Empire State stores despite the closures. Pizza Hut did not immediately answer our questions about why the seven restaurants stopped serving customers.
Pizza Hut isn't the only major food chain to unexpectedly close operations. Lidl closed 11 sites in the Carolinas, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania between July 14 and 16.
