Nestlé USA recalled limited batches of Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough due to "potential wood fragments," according to the FDA.Two "break and bake" bar batches are recalled.
Read the batch code on the package. Bars with batch IDs 311457531K or 311557534K should not be eaten.
Customers should return the bars to where they were purchased for a new batch with a different bar code or a full refund. Other Nestlé items like "break and bake" bars, cookie dough tubs, and edible cookie dough are not recalled.
The business claimed, "While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, we are taking this step out of an abundance of care after a small number of consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue."
The FDA says these can cause "traumatic injury include laceration and perforation of tissues of the mouth, dialect, throat, stomach, and intestine, as well as damage to the teeth and gums."
The FDA's Health Hazard Evaluation Board evaluated 190 food-borne hard or sharp objects over 25 years. A hazard must be 7 to 25 millimeters long.
Nestlé is cooperating with the FDA and believes this is a single incidence, according to the administration's news release.
"The quality, safety, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority," Nestlé told customers. We apologize for any trouble this causes our consumers and retail customers."
