Costco's New Sushi Bar

Costco is known for many things—food court hot dogs, tire deals, baked goods—but sushi isn't one of them. That's changing for certain Issaquah, Washington, and other customers. If the program is successful, Costco may open a fresh sushi counter near you.

The new sushi, unlike Costco's refrigerated sushi, was supposedly carefully made. The sushi makers use Tamaki Gold rice, which doesn't dry up when refrigerated.

Since rice is the only ingredient you can't mess up, grocery store sushi needs that. So the sushi is always fresh, the business removes unsold sushi after 24 hours.

Online Costco shoppers were divided on sushi. Costco sushi has disappointed many. "Premade sushi is always a letdown the rice is never good," claimed one Redditor.

"I honestly haven't seen a single person say the Costco Sushi is good," said another. "This is supposed to be freshly made and rolled in the warehouse—the other sushi they carry comes from a distrubutor and is known to be horrible," another said.

One Reddit user said the sushi at the Issaquah Costco was "very good! WAY better than typical pre-packaged stuff." Another called it "super fresh and really delicious."
